Rebecca Cooke was recently asked a hypothetical question: If she lived in New York, who would she vote for in the Mayor’s race? Like any good Democrat, she named the Democratic candidate without hesitation.
That triggered a burst of pearl-clutching letters from the MAGA cult, parroting the same comically false and over-the-top talking points. If Cooke had said she likes puppies, they would accuse her of harboring packs of rabid junkyard dogs.
Republicans fear any candidate who focuses on improving the lives of ordinary working people. So with grainy black-and-white photos and ominous music, they attack anyone who would dare to (for example) bring food to neighborhoods that the free market refuses to serve.
Meanwhile, their guy marches in locked goose-step to a tyrant with 34 felony convictions, who pals around with pedophiles and uses the Constitution to wipe his bottom. Derrick Van Orden voted to end health care coverage for millions of Americans and to double the premiums for millions more. He has no problem with jack-booted thugs kidnapping citizens from their homes and disappearing them. He enthusiastically supports these and other policies that will kill thousands of innocent Americans.
When the MAGA cult can find nothing good to say about their own candidate, they resort to lying about the opposition. Republicans attack Rebecca Cooke because she radiates warmth and compassion, while Derrick Van Ornery is a crank who’s afraid to face the public.
Personally, I prefer representatives who would feed Americans over those who would kill them.
